For books that survey Medieval art, you can search the Library Catalog, using a "Subject Words" search, using the search terms "Medieval Art."  You will get a list of books about covering various aspects of Medieval Art.

Another way to  search would be to use a "Subject Begins With" search and type the search phrase "Art, Medieval."  You will get a list of subject headings beginning with Art, Medieval.

When looking at these book records in the Library Catalog, take note if the book is in the "Stacks" or in "Oversize."

Also, copy the entire call number.  Many of the books about Medieval art start with the call number N5970. You could browse that general area if you are not looking for anything specific.
