You can find articles from the NY Times electronically through our databases by following these steps:
- Under the "Databases" tab on the library home page, click on “Search Periodicals by Title”
- Enter "New York Times" in the search box
- and click on the magnifying glass to search
The results will appear in a list. Select "New York Times." Then, select the result that has "Available online." This will take you to a record for the New York Times, and under the "View Full Text" section, a list of databases that contain the New York Times will be displayed. For recent articles and historical articles, you should consult:
- Recent articles can be accessed from the ProQuest Central Essentials database link (articles from June 1, 1980 to the present), or from the Nexis Uni database link (Once in Nexis Uni, click on the 'A Publication' button and type the New York Times into the "Find Publication" box. Includes news items from June 1, 1980 to the present).
- In order to find an article published prior to 1980, you should select the ProQuest Historical Newspapers: The New York Times with Index database links.
For searching in the databases, add terms to the main search box, or use the advanced search option. If you are unable to locate an article by its title, try searching by keywords or by its author. Article titles are subject to change.
NYT content is typically added to ProQuest within one day of publication. Unfortunately, we will not have access to all nytimes.com digital content. If you need assistance finding an article, please let us know.
There is no longer an in-house print subscription.
In addition, the library is unable to purchase an online subscription to NYTimes.com due to the significant costs involved. The New York Times website offers free access to up to five articles per month. The Top News section will remain free on smartphone and tablet apps. Beyond that, digital subscriptions are required. See the Times digital subscription page for details.
